Google has already set a trend of perfection and day by day this is strengthening to a further height. Although Android is not its sole business, but in the past two years, Google has spent more on its mobile OS than its sole business of Internet Search. That has resulted tremendously both in terms of figures and development. Android has now become top Smartphone OS in a short span leaving iOS behind and if the drive continues; Android will hold nearly half of total smartphone share in 2015. The latest development in Android by Google is the new version of Google Talk 1.3 which supports Audio and Video along with text conversation.
However you will need to root your device first to install latest Google Talk 1.3 on your device. Also for the time being the app is only for Android 2.3 Gingerbread or later so Froyo and earlier version users have to wait.
To install Google Talk 1.3 on your Android device, you have to uninstall the earlier version to Google Talk and then install the latest version by Android SDK. So you cannot just install it like any other application you install on your android phone. To uninstall the previous version and install this version to your device, follow the instructions below:
1. Download and install Android SDK from here
2. Download Google Talk 1.3 with Audio Video from here (or you can download a tested signed copy from here and for HTC EVO on Sprint, this version will work)
3. Put your device in debugging mode and plug it in to your computer
4. Open command prompt and enter the following commands:
adb remount
adb shell mv /system/app/Talk.apk /system/app/Talk.apk1
adb uninstall com.google.android.talk
adb push libtalk_jni.so /system/lib/
adb push Talk2.apk /system/app
5. You are all done with installation of Google Talk v1.3 with Audio and Video for Android.
In case of any trouble while installing the app, consult XDA thread linked at source below.
